Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soils, Volume 4

THIS TITLE IS OUT OF PRINT AND CAN NO LONGER BE ORDERED FROM US

Proceedings of the 1993 Eighth Annual Conference on Contaminated Soils, held at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst

Edited by Paul T. Kostecki, Edward J. Calabrese, and Marc Bonazountas
U.S. $59.95, 1994, 488 pp. ISBN 1-884940-00-5

Volume 4 describes real-time, cost-effective on-site sensors for long term monitoring, passive sorbent collection devices for site screening, innovative technologies, from immunoassay technology for field screening to the Biogenesis washing process for remediating contaminated soil and sediment. These papers demonstrate progress in the search for speed, efficiency, and cost-effective solutions. Utilizing risk assessment as a tool to determine "how clean is clean" demonstrates the need to examine the standard in search of a better gauge. This volume moves to the next level: designing and implementing remedial solutions, and perhaps more importantly, a commitment to analyzing the effectiveness of these solutions - from both a technology and a cost perspective.
