Ecological Risk Assessment

Edited by Barbara G. Callahan, David E. Burmaster, Roy L.
Smith and Daniel D. Krewski
U.S. $60.00, 1996, 411 pp. ISSN 1080-7039
1996 marked the 50th
anniversary of the Monte Carlo Method, and the editors of
HERA chose to celebrate this occasion with a special
commemorative edition. Widely diverse applications of Monte
Carlo are demonstrated here, from Monte Carlo modeling of
epidemiologic studies, absorption factor determination of
PAHs, distributions of job tenure in selected industries, to
applications not amenable to Monte Carlo. As usual, the
debate section is provocative, providing some comparison of
Monte Carlo and Bayesian statistics among other comments.
