Note: Maine DEP uses a Decision Tree approach to establish remediation standards. The four categories of sites are Baseline 1 (BL-1), Baseline 2 (BL-2), Intermediate (IN), and Stringent (ST), depending upon geologic vulnerability of site and availability of public water. Contact DEP for the written protocol.

* using PID or FID calibrated to DEP-established set points. A list of approved instruments and their set points is available from DEP.

** ST and IN sites only; BL-1 sites require only removal of free product and product-saturated soils. BL-2 sites may be remediated to 500-1000mg/kg, measured by field/headspace

*** ST and IN sites only; BL-1 sites require only removal of free product and product-saturated soils. BL-2 sites may be cleaned to 200-400mg/kg, measured by field/headspace
